SBYMA has a very elite and competent board of directors that help make decisions about where and how donations should be distributed and help with the "behind the scene" part of the non profit. They are all musicians and music lovers as well as prominent and active Santa Barbara community members!

William Fiedtkou    Director Since 2009

William Fiedtkou is the founder, Music Director and inspiration for SBYMA. William has been involved in music since childhood, the eldest of 3 siblings born in Georgetown, Guyana South America. He started playing music at age 6. William's family started playing together as a family band when he was 8 years old. They traveled together playing music throughout South America for more than 5 years, then played in Barbados, Trinidad, Surnam, and Venezuela. The family played in churches, for Presidents, Prim Ministers, television programs and in concert halls. While touring in South America, they recorded an album called The Musical Family.  William heads up the daily operations, interacts with outside agencies, customer service and manages the staff, performances.  

Barbara Moseley Director Since 2016

Barbara Moseley has been the Executive Music Director at Santa Barbara Youth Music Academy since 2011. As of January 2016, she is now the new Executive Co-Director of SBYMA.

She has been providing quality training for bands, solo artists, and private lessons in guitar, bass, drums, piano, vocals, and songwriting.  She is currently heading up the business side of SBYMA including accounting, HR, curriculum, marketing, web design, grant writing and operations.  If you have any questions about SBYMA, please contact her at sbyma.org@gmail.com.

From 2006-2011 Barbara owned and operated Rock n Pop kids, which provided Rock band training for kids of all ages. The bands of Rock n Pop performed in many local venues, won talent competitions, created music videos and professional recordings with original music, appeared on television and performed in various events with artists like Nick Jonas and Kenny Loggins in venues throughout Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles area.

Barbara also currently works as a freelance writer, producing and engineering with her own music and with other artists. She currently works with songwriting teams, including “We are Galilee” with Convulsic Records, Global Music, Fanatic studios UK, Anti-M, Gorka Music, various EDM artists such as The Element, and  Grammy Winning Engineer Eric Talaba, (Fall Out Boy, Switchfoot, Sara Bareilles, Linkin Park and Yellowcar to name a few).

Barrett James Reed Director Since 2013 

Barrett James Reed is currently associated with three companies. The Companies were formed over a four year period with the most recent being incorporated three years ago in May of 2013. All companies are still active.  The waterline being the most recent.  The Waterline is an adaptive reuse project located in an expansive industrial warehouse property in Santa Barbara’s burgeoning Funk Zone. Originally built on the rubble of the historic 1925 earthquake, over the ensuing 90 years the property has been home to a bevy of industrial uses before being freshly re-envisioned by Miramar Group as a community-centric destination for food, beer and wine and works and wares created by local artisans and skilled craftspeople.

Bill Redman Director Since 2014                               

William Redman brings a music educator’s sensibilities and insights to the SBYMA board. He is perhaps best known in Santa Barbara as a member of the Santa Barbara City College Music Department. His guitar classes there are popular course offerings. A graduate of SJSU (guitar/composition), he has also taught at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA. Bill is a well versed performer and recording artist, and teaches privately through his own Channel Islands Guitar Studio. He performs locally with SBCC’s Monday Madness Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Isaac Jenkins, as well as with his own group which showcases his talents as a composer and arranger and his affinity for music from many different world cultures.
