SBYMA offers an ever-expanding selection of classes and music styles. Our core teaching strength is building, developing and directing bands and ensembles. Our band/ensemble teaching model consists of weekly directed band practices, live performances and multi-band showcases at local venues. We recommend that most student take private lessons on the instrument of his/her choice as they grow into their role as a musician and as a member of a band. If a student does not take instrument-focused private lessons from our teachers, we suggest they take private lessons elsewhere. We will provide a list of local teachers and what instruments they teach. Band or Choir lessons are an hour long and we suggest one lesson per week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Private lessons are 1/2 hour long and usually taught once per weekWe currently offer private instruction on guitar, bass, piano, drums, string, wind and voice instruments. Yes, voice is an instrument.
$130 per month for band sessions
$140 per month for private lessons (free workshops included)
There are scholarships and partial scholarships available for disadvantaged families and families that qualify. We also provide discounts for families that have more than one child in the academy. Please contact us if you have or know of a child that would like to participate in our programs.

SBYMA is a community, where children of all skill levels can learn to play the bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, drums, and sing. Campers will experience performing with a band, writing songs, and experimenting with music technology. We believe at SBYMA that music Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness: social and emotional, intellectual, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Our teachers are not only some of the best musicians in the community, they are also amazing mentors for your child. SBYMA On Campus
The On Campus Music Outreach program is designed to give elementary students an after-school activity that will provide the opportunity to explore musical instruments and develop their musical abilities. At the end of each session students will have the opportunity to participate as a band member of a performing musical group. The after-school programs will be held at elementary schools in the Goleta and Santa Barbara communities.
This program aligns with the Education Outreach Mission statement in that it will serve a diverse representation of elementary students.
While presenting the opportunity to explore musical expressions, the program will also help to strengthen each students’ self-esteem and confidence. Much encouragement will be given to support the students’ efforts and praise their accomplishments.
Ask us more about our On Campus Program. We would love to establish programs in more Santa Barbara schools. Contact William at (805) 699-5352 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org

Music & Technology
Recently, SBYMA has teamed up with the Santa Barbara Apple Store to engage the youth music community in technology based classes utilizing the latest apple software for music production. Students learn how to write songs, sing, and compose music on digital platforms such as Garageband and Logic Pro X. These classes are open to all of the community, but are first come first serve so make sure to RSVP!
